Sara Shelley, RYT - Yoga Instructor
Sara is a resident of Silver Spring Maryland and has been chosen to introduce "Pulling Down the Moon" classes and workshops to the Washington Metro area starting in the fall of 2007. Sara has been teaching Yoga since 1999 and specializes in working with women and couples throughout their childbearing years. She took her first yoga class in search of relief from the accumulated stress of multiple miscarriages that occurred before the birth of her second son, and has remained a devoted student ever since. With a background in Dance Movement Therapy, she immediately recognized the intrinsic value of Yoga and it's potential as a form of self healing and personal growth.
Sara was introduced to Anusara Yoga at Willow Street Yoga Center, the Maryland studio where she continues to teach. She became an Affiliated instructor in 2002 and is also certified in Prenatal/Postnatal Yoga, HypnoBirthing Childbirth Education and labor support, and attends births on occasion. Prior to teaching Yoga, she was a member of a local non-profit organization (P.A.C.E.) that leads support groups for first time parents throughout the Washington DC metro area.
Sara continues to study extensively with Rod Stryker, and is currently in the process of completing a teacher training with Richard Miller in the practice of Yoga Nidra. With warmth and enthusiasm she invites all students to utilize the challenges and obstacles surrounding conception, pregnancy or birth as unique opportunities for growth, empowerment, and celebration in life. Sara offers group classes, private instruction, and workshops throughout the Maryland/ DC metro area.
