FirstLine Therapy for Fertility: A Healthy Weight Loss Program for the New Year

The New Year is here, and it's a great time to think about new goals and resolutions. This is often a time that many people get serious about losing weight, so we wanted to share with you an update from the women who have been a part of our FirstLine Therapy for Fertility (FLTF) group in Chicago. FLTF is a comprehensive, fertility-friendly weight loss program designed to help women increase their odds of conception through weight loss. The idea of FLTF is to help you nourish your body with the vitamins, minerals and healthy foods needed to support fertility and help you feel satisfied, while at the same time helping you achieve a healthy weight.

Our FLTF group has been blessed with 5 pregnancies - 3 with ART and 2 conceived naturally ranging from 9 weeks pregnant all the way to the 3rd trimester as of right now. We've had phenomenal success stories with some of our women losing over 40 pounds! It is of course wonderful to watch the scale drop for women who have struggled with their weight for a long time, but it's even more inspiring to see how theses positive changes and improved confidence spill over into other areas of their lives. I want to share with you some of the great things these women have had to say about FLTF:

"I find it a miracle that we’re now expecting a baby. I often speculate what finally made this happen, and I truly think that it’s due to FLTF and acupuncture. Changing my diet was single-handedly the most important thing I could have done..."

"..the things that have really stuck with me are making sure I stick to organic as much as possible (especially with the dairy, meat and veggies/fruit), keeping the processed carbs and sugar at bay, and pairing my carbs/veggies with protein so that I’m getting plenty of protein throughout the day.  I’m still rarely hungry and have only had 1 cold this fall/winter where usually I have 2 or 3 full-blown sinus infections that require antibiotics per winter.  I just feel like a healthier person!"

"Quite frankly, I feel so much better, cleaner almost (it’s weird to say that, but internally cleaner) my food choices are so much better and the healthier I eat, the less I crave the other foods."

All of the women in our FLTF program have had remarkable accomplishments, and they continue to move forward by setting goals for the New Year. Their goals range from general to very specific and are related to different aspects of health, weight, and food choices. Here is a sampling:

"I want to/need to add more cardio, and I want to start tracking my food intake. I’ve started prenatal yoga 2 days a week, and I want to add three days of cardio."

"Be healthier."

"Drop the coffee and go to tea. I know I can do it and it's important."
"Do yoga daily."

"Prepare more home cooked meals, and just sticking to basic unprocessed meals."

"My goals for this year are to get back on track with FLTF after the crazy holidays, get prepared physically and mentally to have a natural childbirth if at all possible, breastfeed after birth and step up my activity as I recover from birth. "
