Pulling Down the Moon classes teach you how to optimize your fertility. Our instructors are
experienced, gifted yoga teachers and many have experienced their own fertility challenges. We also train our staff in the medical aspects of fertility treatment so they are able to make their teaching synergistic with your physician's instructions, should you be using medical intervention.
Beyond knowledge, PDtM classes also provide the gift of sangha, the yogic term that means a group of like-minded individuals sharing a similar intention. Through the sharing of stories, experiences, joys and disappointments, the power of the group is healing in its own right.
We are also commited to research into the efficacy of our approach. Data from on-going follow-up surveys show that nearly 75% of women who take the fertility yoga program report pregnancy within six months. Interestingly, while most of our students are using some form of Assisted Reproductive Technology when they enroll for the class, nearly a third of the reported pregnancies are spontaneous. In addition, we are currently involved in a clinical study with Fertility Centers of Illinois measuring the impact of our Yoga for Fertility class on the anxiety associated with medical fertility treatment.
Our classes reach beyond the physical practice of yoga. You may have heard about "repetitive stress injury" in terms of sports or orthopedics, but did you know that repetitive, negative thoughts can actually create stress and illness in our bodies and minds? The by-products of negative thinking - stress and anxiety - can also create an unhealthy physical environment for fertility.
A piece of advice we frequently offer at Pulling Down the Moon® is to "go out of your mind!" This may sound a bit strange, but believe us when we tell you that your mind can be your worst enemy when you're trying to conceive. We teach our students that they have to empty out the negative thoughts before there is room for the positive to move in.
