December: Tree Pose

December's Fertility Yoga Pose of the Month:  Vrksasana (Tree Pose)

Vrksasana is a pose that helps us cultivate balance.  Tree helps us find "rooted-ness" in our standing leg, and when we begin to find balance in the physical body our mind becomes still as well.

1.  Stand and find a strong connection with the soles of both feet.

2.  Shift your wieght into your right leg and, bending the left knee, bring the left foot to rest against the inside of the right calf or the inside of the right thigh with the heel pressed into the groin.

3.  Join your hands in front of your heart in prayer position.

4.  Pick a focal point on the floor or wall in front of you.  An unfaltering gaze will help balance both body and mind.

5.  Breathe deeply here. As you become more adept at balancing you can stay here for up to a minute.
