May's Fertility Yoga Pose:  Supported Fish

This pose is wonderful for balancing the thyroid as well as opening the heart center to release sadness and anxiety.  You will need a bolster or a rolled blanket to do this restorative pose.

1.  Sit on your yoga mat with your knees bent, soles of your feet on the floor.
2.  Lie back onto a bolster or rolled blanket so that the bolster is supporting your upper back and your head is free to stretch back and rest on the floor.  If it feels uncomfortable to lie like this, or the stretch feels to intense on your neck, place a towel under the head to lessen the bend in the neck.
3.  Take hands in front of the heart in prayer and then stretch them up over head towards the floor.
4.  Take 10-20 breaths.
5.  To come out of the pose, bring your hands back to your heart and then release them on the floor.  Gently scoot your shoulders off the bolster so your head is now resting on the support as on a pillow.  
6.  Roll to your right side and rest here for a few breaths before returning to seated.
