Fertility Focused Acupuncture

Each of our acupuncturists has additional training and years of clinical experience in fertility specific acupuncture treatments. Acupuncture has a long history of supporting fertility and can be effective for those trying to conceive naturally or through the use of assisted reproductive techniques (ART) such as IUI and IVF.

Acupuncture has been shown to support fertility by:

  • Regulating the menstrual cycle
  • Balance hormones such as FSH, LH, Estrogen, and Progesterone
  • Improving blood flow to the ovaries and uterus
  • Improving ovarian function
  • Improving the thickness of the uterine wall lining
  • Reducing the chance of miscarriage
  • Improve quality of oocytes
  • Improve sperm count and sperm quality
  • Reduce stress and anxiety
  • Offset side-effects from medicated ART cycles

Prenatal Acupuncture

During pregnancy, Traditional Chinese Medicine focuses on the synergy between mom and baby, supporting optimal health in both. Because many women curtail the use of many medications during pregnancy, acupuncture fills a gap in managing common pregnancy symptoms including:

  • Morning sickness
  • Insomnia
  • Hemorrhoids
  • Back pain
  • Water retention
  • Headaches
  • Sciatica
  • Digestive issues/constipation
  • Leg/muscle cramps
  • Depression
  • Muscle pain
  • Anxiety
  • Stress management

Postpartum Acupuncture

Keeping up with regular acupuncture visits after giving birth can be a huge help to new moms. Acupuncture supports mothers during this time by helping to restore hormone balance, reduce postpartum depression and support healthy moods, increase milk production, and increase energy levels.

What to Expect in a Session

  • Initial: Please allow 90 minutes for this appointment. We will discuss your medical history and treatment goals followed by an assessment using Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) diagnostics that include feeling your pulses and examining your tongue. This assessment, along with your history and goals, will guide our acupuncture treatment plan.
  • Follow-up Appointments: This visit is 45-60 minutes. Your follow-up sessions include a chance to check-in with your practitioner, who will again assess pulse and tongue, and continue working on your health goal. It is your time to rest, restore and continue on the path to wellness. Based on this meeting your practitioner may add or change their acupuncture point selection and may introduce other treatments such as moxibustion or electrical stimulation, if indicated.
