Eating Healthier During Summer

June 22, 2013

Hi I’m Natalie. As a nutritionist at “the Moon”, one of my main goals is to make eating healthy easier. When you are trying to get pregnant, the last thing you need is more stress from a complicated eating plan.

If you’ve been wanting to eat healthier, there is no better time than now. Summer heat makes us naturally desire more fresh, nutrient dense meals. Take advantage of this! In July, some of the best fertility enhancing foods become available locally. These include blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, beans, cabbage, and radishes. There are many easy ways to enjoy these foods. Try adding berries to your morning oatmeal, or use them to make a healthy smoothie. Use cabbage as a crisp topping on fish tacos. Radishes add a tasty crunch to green salads. Beans can be used for almost anything including salads, side dishes, and dips.

Farmer’s markets are the best places to take advantage of local, fresh foods. Use the website LocalHarvest.org to search for farmer’s markets near you. Embrace what the season has to offer and naturally improve your health!
