Yoga Classes to Increase Fertility

This fertility-specific, copy-righted, six-week class is a journey into the healing powers of Yoga for Fertility and how this practice can help calm and heal the body, clear the mind and lighten the heart. Pulling Down the Moon’s Yoga for Fertility was the first in existence, created by Co-Founders Beth Heller and Tami Quinn two decades ago.  It has been the focus of a lot of media attention including an article in the New York Times.

What to Expect From Our Fertility Yoga Classes

At each class you will learn a series of yoga postures designed to improve fertility by increasing blood flow into the pelvis, releasing stress and anxiety and balancing the flow of life energy in the body. In addition to this physical practice we explore concepts from yoga philosophy that frame the fertility journey in a way that reveals our personal strengths, reinforces the joy of everyday life and empowers us to create the family we are meant to have. Through this class you will also join the wonderful, positive healing community of Pulling Down the Moon and enjoy the energy of all the amazing women who have shared their journey with us.  At Pulling Down the Moon we say that “Community is our Secret Sauce.”

Private Online Fertility Yoga Sessions

While we believe that community is our secret sauce, we also know there are lots of reasons why you might prefer to do yoga as a private client. We now offer one-on-one, online sessions. You might choose to do just one class specifically tailored to your diagnosis or needs, or our entire 6-week series. Scientific Evidence for Fertility Yoga

In one of the most extensive controlled yoga investigations conducted, Fertility Centers of Illinois and Pulling Down the Moon joined forces to explore the impact of yoga practice on anxiety among fertility patients. Utilizing the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) – a recognized self-report tool for assessing anxiety – the study revealed remarkable findings. Following the six-week yoga program by Pulling Down the Moon, situational anxiety scores dropped by 20% in the yoga group, in contrast to a mere 2% in the control group. Moreover, long-standing anxiety scores reduced by 12% in the yoga group compared to 3% in the control group.

Presented at the October 2015 annual meeting of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, this study demonstrated that the Yoga for Fertility program not only effectively reduced stress but also achieved substantial outcomes within a brief timeframe. This outcome could potentially be attributed to three key factors: the support and sense of community that mitigate isolation, the activation of relaxation through stimulation of the vagus nerve, and the utilization of pivotal relaxation techniques encompassing breathing and meditation.

Benefits of Yoga When You’re Trying to Conceive

For women aiming to conceive, yoga exercises offer numerous advantages. It's important to note that while yoga complements medical fertility treatments and acupuncture, it doesn't substitute for them. The benefits you'll experience encompass:

Reduce Stress & Anxiety

Since the stress and anxiety associated with trying to conceive without success is often close to that of serious medical conditions like cancer. Learning breathwork and relaxation techniques will be a immensely beneficial.

Muscle Relaxation

Engaging in yoga has a transformative impact on the muscles encircling the hips and pelvis. These specific muscle groups play crucial role in fostering the conditions essential for a healthy and successful pregnancy journey.

Hormone Balance

Hormones and stress are closely tied. When you release stress, your hormone levels balance. Regular yoga practice can be part of this picture.

Improve Blood Flow

Yoga improves circulation. This means that it increases blood flow to all of your body’s organs, including those associated with reproduction. Not only that, but the University of Washington indicates yoga increases hemoglobin levels in red blood cells.

Stimulate Reproductive System

Increased blood flow can stimulate the uterus and ovaries. These are the most important parts of the female reproductive system, and supporting their health is critical to conception.

Increase ART Success Rate

Women who are undergoing assisted reproductive processes, such as IVF, have a higher rate of success when they participate in low-impact yoga classes.
