Find Experienced Holistic Support at Pulling Down the Moon
What is endometriosis? Endometriosis (known colloquially as "endo") is a chronic condition in which tissue similar to the uterine lining (endometrium) grows outside the uterus. This tissue can appear on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, pelvic peritoneum, other pelvic tissues, or internal organs.
Over time, this ectopic tissue can trigger inflammation, adhesions (scar tissue), and pain. Typical symptoms include:
- Painful periods (dysmenorrhea)
- Pelvic or lower back pain, often cyclical
- Pain during intercourse (dyspareunia)
- Bloating, gastrointestinal discomfort, and fatigue
- Irregular bleeding or heavy menses
Because endometriosis can distort the pelvic anatomy and provoke chronic inflammation, it may interfere with fertility. The presence of adhesions or scar tissue can impair tubal motility or block the pathway of the egg.
Inflammatory and immune mediators may damage egg quality, sperm function, or embryo implantation. Additionally, altered pelvic blood flow or hormonal imbalances may further reduce the likelihood of conception.
Pulling Down the Moon offers a range of treatment options for people with endometriosis, including acupuncture, Fertility Enhancing Massage, Mercier Therapy, yoga, and nutrition. Your practitioner can add red light therapy to in-house services, when appropriate, to further activate cellular level healing.

Why Holistic Fertility Methods Can Be Especially Beneficial for Endometriosis
When managing endometriosis, a singular approach often falls short. Conventional treatments like surgery or hormonal suppression may relieve symptoms but they don’t always prevent recurrence or fully restore reproductive harmony. A holistic fertility approach combines multiple modalities—acupuncture, massage, nutrition, yoga—to address the root imbalances, reduce inflammation, and support reproductive resilience.
By working synergistically, these holistic methods may:
- Diminish pain and inflammatory burden
- Improve uterine and ovarian blood flow
- Normalize hormonal and immune signaling
- Alleviate stress and support emotional well-being
- Enhance fertility outcomes in a gentler, more sustainable way
At Pulling Down the Moon, our goal is not to “cure” endo overnight, but to help you reclaim balance, ease, and fertility potential—guided by evidence based practices, compassion, and individualized care.

Acupuncture is a gentle, minimally invasive modality that may help reduce pain, modulate inflammation, and improve hormonal balance in women with endometriosis. At Pulling Down the Moon, our licensed acupuncturists design individualized sessions, selecting meridians and points appropriate to each woman’s pattern, with the goal of alleviating pain, improving uterine circulation, and supporting fertility.
A 2023 systematic review and meta-analysis found clinically relevant improvements in pelvic pain and menstrual pain among women receiving acupuncture vs control treatments. Another meta-analysis reported that acupuncture was associated with reductions in pain severity, improved response rates, and lowered serum CA-125 levels in endometriosis patients. Mechanistically, acupuncture may:
- Increase local blood flow to pelvic tissues, easing congestion and reducing ischemia
- Stimulate endogenous pain-modulating pathways (endorphins, neurotransmitters)
- Regulate the hypothalamus-pituitary-ovarian axis and help normalize estrogen / progesterone balance
- Modulate inflammatory and immune mediators that are implicated in endometriosis (e.g. cytokines)
Additionally, a
study of women with deep infiltrating endometriosis, symptom intensity (dysmenorrhea, dyspareunia, non-cyclical pelvic pain) decreased by 25–50% after 3–4 months of acupuncture treatment.

Adding regular massage visits to your holistic care plan—especially targeted abdominal, pelvic, and myofascial release techniques—can be a valuable adjunct in easing endometriosis symptoms.
Pulling Down the Moon uses gentle but effective approaches such as Mercier Therapy and our proprietary Fertility Enhancing Protocol™ (FEM), customized to each client’s comfort level and symptom pattern. This integrative approach to endometriosis support is coordinated in tandem with your overall care team and may help by:
- Reducing pelvic adhesions and softening connective tissue restrictions
- Enhancing circulation and lymphatic drainage to reduce congestion and inflammatory swelling
- Easing muscular tension in the pelvis, lower back, and hip region that often exacerbate pain
- Promoting parasympathetic (rest-and-digest) relaxation, which can lower stress and decrease pain perception
Clinical reviews and case series suggest that massage is effective in reducing pain intensity and improving quality of life in endometriosis patients. While high-quality randomized controlled trials are still limited, many women report meaningful improvements when massage is integrated into a broader holistic plan.
Red light therapy, also known as low-level laser, may also promote relief from various endometriosis symptoms. by improving cellular energy production, and reducing inflammation.
All massage visit include 10-15 minutes of assessment, education, and post-visit self-care recommendations.

Nutrition plays a pivotal role in modulating inflammation, hormone balance, and gut health—which all matter in the management of endometriosis. At Pulling Down the Moon, our nutritionists create individualized plans that respect your preferences, sensitivities, and fertility goals. Let our team create a bespoke nutritional plan to help you:
- Reduce inflammatory load: Emphasizing anti-inflammatory foods (e.g. fatty fish, olive oil, leafy greens, berries) and minimizing pro-inflammatory foods (refined sugars, processed meats, trans fats) may dampen systemic inflammation. A review in the journal Nutrients found that diets higher in omega-3s and fiber, and lower in saturated fats, correlated with reduced pain and symptom burden in endometriosis patients.
- Support detoxification and estrogen metabolism: Nutrients such as cruciferous vegetables, antioxidants, and methyl donors can assist liver pathways that help metabolize and clear excess estrogen, which is known to feed endometriotic lesions.
- Balance gut health and microbiome: A healthy microbiome supports immune regulation and estrogen metabolism; prebiotics, probiotics, and fiber can help maintain gut integrity.
- Stabilize blood sugar: Avoiding insulin spikes may support hormonal balance, since insulin resistance can exacerbate estrogen dominance.

Pulling Down the Moon is thrilled to offer functional medicine testing such as GI-MAP and DUTCH Plus which provide additional insights regarding your body's nutritional needs. Ask our nutritionist which tests they recommend to best support your goals.

Yoga is a mind–body practice combining movement, breath work, and awareness. At Pulling Down the Moon, our Instant Access Yoga for Fertility is ready whenever you are and provides fertility-friendly classes tailored to people with pelvic sensitivity.
Poses are modified, with emphasis on breath, ease, and supportive awareness, making our practice a potent support for women with endometriosis. Some of its benefits include:
- Pain reduction and stress relief: A pilot AB-design study of “endometriosis yoga” (52 women) showed significant reductions in pain scores, stress, and improved quality of life after eight weeks of biweekly yoga practice (p = .001).
- Improved pelvic circulation and tissue oxygenation: Gentle asanas and dynamic movements encourage blood flow and may help release tension in pelvic organs.
- Hormonal and autonomic balance: Yoga’s influence on the parasympathetic nervous system and HPA (stress) axis helps regulate cortisol and reduce systemic inflammation.
- Emotional resilience and embodied connection: Many women with endometriosis feel disconnected from their bodies. Yoga offers a compassionate path back to trust, awareness, and self-care.
Furthermore, a
controlled trial showed that women who practiced hatha yoga had significantly lower daily pain levels and better quality-of-life metrics compared to a non-yoga group.
